Context

A brownfield environment combines cloud, on-premise appliances and legacy systems.

Tension

The bank needs target-state modernization without assuming all legacy capabilities can move at the same pace.

Scope

Target architecture defined independently of legacy constraints, with explicit transition states, layer boundaries and anti-corruption boundaries.

Transition

The as-is informs the target architecture; it does not imprison it. Transition states are declared rather than implied, so each legacy capability can move on its own schedule.

Conceptual view. The on-premise core does not vanish at step one: it carries the operation through the whole transition and retires at the end.

Governance

Architecture governance and formal conformity assessments applied to irreversible decisions, with security architecture treated as part of the decision set rather than a later review.

Result

Baseline and target architectures with explicit transition plateaus, work packages and a governed decision path for the irreversible choices.
